So it’s been awhile since I’ve made a post but if you know just how demanding business as an entrepreneur can be you probably understand why I haven’t taken the time to sit down with a hot cup of coffee and write another thoughtful time intensive update to my life story.
Since I value the fact that you actually take the time out of your busy schedule to read my posts I had to carve out a quick 30-45 minutes to tell you a little more about how I got started as an entrepreneur at an early age.
I was always prone to sales as a young boy. I remember in grade school I started buying candy from the dollar store and selling it piece by piece to my friends. I got the idea from a friend who became a good mentor to me in my business endeavors and later went on and built a flourishing dryer vent cleaning business called Dryer Vent Tech and currently makes a nice seven figure income from multiple businesses.
But before all of the success, we both struggled greatly. There were times I doubted my self, my business and my abilities to the point where I wanted to quit. If it wasn’t for my friend a great mentor, I think I may have threw in the towel. I think he would say the same about me. At the time he was making barely enough from his business to feed his family, and I was working a part time job while trying to build mine.
I had just started a lawn care company and was struggling to gain customers. Being that this was back in 1975, the internet had not become widely known and virtually no one was using it to grow a business. Back then it was all about hitting the streets and knocking on doors.
So there I was, about 23 years old, full of ambition, fear and hope, all bundled up in one young wishful mind. To tell you the truth, I had thought it would be easier to build a business and I started to wonder if I could even do it after a few months of struggling.
But I realized that anything that was worth working for, was worth working hard for! The more I focused on my ultimate dream of building a self sufficient business that basically ran it’s self and made me enough money to support a family (at the time I was still single) and invest in new business ventures, the more I pushed forward and took action!
The more I took steps toward my goals the more success I began to see. I began to realize something, it was starting to get easier! I was developing systems and processes that made things run smoother and I was only learning through trial and error and becoming better at my craft!
That’s when I truly started to enjoy the journey I had begun and embrace the path I had chosen to take. That’s when everything changed. I still wasn’t where I wanted to be, but my mindset had changed and with my new and improved winning mindset I could change the world!
P.S. Stay tuned for more to come! 😉
